EARL F. WAGESTER, 77, of Deckerville, died Tuesday, December 17, 2024, in Autumnwood of Deckerville.
He was born July 14, 1947, in Marion Township the son of the late Leland and Norma (Reid) Wagester.
Earl grew up in Marion Township and attended Deckerville Community School class of 1965, however he didn’t receive his diploma until 1997 when he finished high school. Earl was very proud of finishing high school and had his diploma framed.
On June 7, 1969, Earl married Valene Green in Forester. Together they raised one son and one daughter.
Earl was a lifelong meat cutter. He owned and operated Earl’s Meat Processing and worked at Foley’s Grocery Store in Port Sanilac and for the Mennonite Store west of Sandusky. He enjoyed woodworking, feeding fish in the family pond with his grandson and taking in stray cats.
He is survived by his wife, Valene; one son, Greg (Tonya) Wagester of Carsonville; one daughter, Connie (Raymond) Garrett of Carsonville; four grandchildren, Evan and Alyssa Wagester, Ashley and Raymond III Garrett; two brothers, Jack (Vicki) Wagester and Gerald (Janet) Wagester both of Deckerville; one sister, Judy (Richard) Smith of OH and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother Norman in 1959.
Funeral services to honor the life of Earl F. Wagester were at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024, in the Apsey Funeral Home. The burial was in Downing Cemetery. Rev. James Buckley officiated.
Visitation was from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
Memorials may be given to the Autumnwood Auxiliary.
