ALEXANDER, John Jan 12, 1947 – Oct 28, 2024

John Amos Alexander, fondly known as John by his family and friends, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, October 28, 2024 at the age of 77. The son of Frank and Oleta (Conley) Alexander, was born on January 12, 1947 in Madill, OK. John grew up attending schools in Ravia, OK until graduating from Ravia High School in 1964. He attended Murray State College and then Oklahoma State University where he studied accounting and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1968. After graduation, John joined the United States Marine Corps and honorably served his country in Vietnam as a 2nd Lieutenant in the First Marine Division. On May 26th 1968, John married his one true love, Lynda Dee Sanders and together they shared more than 56 years of marriage together. This union of marriage was blessed with two children, Stacy and Marc. In addition to being a loving husband and devoted father, John provided for his family and served as a CPA working in both the public and private industries. He maintained a small practice until his death. John was very passionate about his family, especially all of his grandkids, traveling to many of the National Parks, gardening (Master Gardener through OSU), playing blackjack and craps, and lake time with all of the family. John was quite savvy with his financial knowledge and was often sought out when peers, friends, and acquaintances were making important financial decisions. John also had a strong love for plants and birds evidenced by his beautiful pots and landscapes enjoyed by many. As a member of the Chickasaw Nation Warrior’s Society, he took great pride in his Chickasaw heritage and the legacy it was to his children and grandchildren. He also had a gift of teaching – whether it was for an IRA or saving strategies, how to plant a tree, or a winning blackjack technique – he really enjoyed spending one on one time with people, especially his grandchildren. In his spare time John could be found posted up field or courtside watching his grandkids participate in their many activities. John will be fondly remembered as a kind, thoughtful and friendly man. He wasn’t one to be the life of the party, but you could find him holding court in the corner with one or two people and possibly a deck of cards. If you stayed late enough you might even find him curled up in the middle of the room asleep with a pillow. Everyone has a “John” story. He loved and cared deeply for his family and he will be held close to our hearts each day.
