Samuel S. Mohr, Sr., 93, of Coatesville was called home to the Lord, Friday, December 27, 2024 at surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Rock Run/Coatesville, he was the son of the late Samuel Pratt Mohr and Anna Kelley Mohr, and the beloved husband of the late Margaret “Peggy” Kilgore Mohr with whom he shared 68 wonderful years of marriage.
Sam was a 1949 graduate of S. Horace Scott High School. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the US Navy and a devoted member of St. Cecilia Church, Coatesville.
Sam began his career at Lukens Steel Co as a 120 and 140 Roller Operator, then retired as a 206 Rolling Mill Supervisor after 34 years of service.
He was a Life Member of West End Fire Company, he loved to play golf, and was an avid hunter. He volunteered at Brandywine Hospital transporting patients.
Sam is survived by his son, Samuel S. Mohr, Jr (Sandy) of Coatesville; his two daughters, Marie DiPietrantonio and (John Jr.) of Lancaster and Paula Lepori (Arthur, Sr.) of Honey Brook; 5 grandchildren: Sam and Sarah Mohr, Arthur Lepori, Jr., John DiPietrantonio III (Heather); and Jenice Weaver (Glenn) of Lancaster; and 6 great-grandchildren: Giovanni DiPietrantonio, Dylan, Hailey, Joel, Katelyn, and Isaiah Weaver.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his three brothers, Elmer, William and Charles Mohr, and his sister, Anna Mullin.
Sam’s funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 11am at St. Peter Church, 2875 Manor Rd, Coatesville with visitation beginning at 9:30am.
Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery, Coatesville.
