SCROGGINS, Christopher Michael Dec 9, 1963 – Dec 31, 2024

LISLE [mdash] It is with heavy hearts that his family announces the passing of Christopher Michael Scroggins, a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, who passed away Dec. 31, 2024, at Evanston Hospital. He was born Dec. 9, 1963, in Kankakee, the son of William and Rosemary Scroggins.
Christopher attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and Bishop McNamara Catholic High School. He furthered his education at Eastern Illinois University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design and eCornell, Cornell University, where he received a certificate in marketing strategy.
Christopher began his long and creative career in Des Moines, Iowa, where he was an art director at Thomas C. Porter & Associates from 1994 to 2000.
In 2000, Christopher moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where he worked for Hammel, Green & Abrahamson as a graphic designer and then eventually became principal creative director for his own small creative agency until 2006.
He returned to the Chicagoland area in 2007, where he became senior creative manager for Office Max Corporate in Naperville, and then worked as a contract creative for Redbox Corporate in Oakbrook Terrace.
Christopher had an unparalleled ability to see the world not as it was but what it could be. Whether through his art or other creative pursuits he wove beauty and inspiration into the lives he touched. He generously donated his time to groups and organizations he felt helped make a difference in the world. He contributed countless hours to such groups as the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, Animal Rescue League of Iowa, Alliance to Restore the Kankakee River, and The Kankakee Historical Society.
To those who knew him, Christopher had an infectious spirit for life. A dedicated outdoorsman, he loved hiking trails and fishing near a stream. He loved his dogs and had a deep appreciation for a good read, lively political discussions and shared in the ups and downs of rooting for his beloved Chicago sports teams. In quieter moments he could be found laughing along to Seinfeld reruns or reminiscing about the charm of classic old TV shows that he shared a love for along with his father.
Most of all, Christopher was loved by his mother, Rosemary, his brother, Jay, sister, Cassie, sister, Julie and her husband, Brett, and was adored by his nephew, Jack, and niece, Abbey. He cared deeply for his aunts, uncles, cousins and their children. He cherished his friendships and offered up nothing but kindness to all who passed his way. He was a lover of life and was able to find beauty and goodness in even the most difficult of circumstances. Christopher lived each day with gratitude and a deep belief there was always something to be thankful for.
Preceding him in death were his father, William Francis Scroggins; grandparents, Leo and Mary Scroggins, and Joseph and Rita Quigley, all of Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, until the small prayer service at noon, both at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee.
