Ronald R. Dockter

Ronald R. Dockter died December 27, 2024, in Loveland CO.  ‘Ron’ was born on Mother’s Day, May 9, 1948, to Edna (Buck) and Richard Dockter at the family farm near Streeter ND.  He attended Streeter High School and later graduated from Wishek High School in 1966.  He graduated from Univ of ND in 1970.  Ron was a gifted student musician and athlete, performing numerous trumpet solos, and running a 4 minute 29 second mile in track.  He spent his 40-year public school music education career at numerous schools in SD, ND, WY, and CO.  Notable career stops in ND were Gackle and Devils Lake.  Ron was a renaissance man, taking equal joy from ice fishing on Devils Lake, directing the pit orchestra for the Cheyenne WY community theatre, hunting elk in the WY/CO high country, performing with the Devils Lake Elks band, building a home in WY, playing pinochle, and studying war history.  Ron was married to his wife, Devona, for 56 years.  In addition to Devona, he is survived by his children Tami Shotts (Bruce), Chris (Mariah), and Nate (Tracy).  His grandchildren are Rebekah Reifschneider (Mitch), Roman Schneider, Maddie, Jake, Marissa Hinchey (Austin), Jack Vagott (Shannon), Luke Vagott (Savannah Hepworth), Adeline, Elise Kratochvil, Keenan Kratochvil, Haleigh Heisler (Jordan), and Kira Shotts (Kayla). His one great-grandchild is Dominic Reifschneider.  His surviving siblings are Linda Inman (KC), Clyde (Arlys) and Rod.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Ralph (Robin).  The family recommends memorials to either the Michael J.
