It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Evanna Fontenot, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the age of 86. Born in Mamou, on December 12, 1938, she spent her life in the embrace of Evangeline Parish, where she cultivated deep ties and lasting friendships throughout her journey. A celebration of life service will commence at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, in the Chapel at Ardoin Funeral Home, followed by her burial at Te-Mamou Cemetery.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Evanna’s remarkable life. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., continuing Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 9 a.m.
Evanna was not only known as a dedicated beautician, operating her cherished business, Evanna’s Beauty Box, but also as a talented seamstress who crafted beautiful clothing for her family. Her daughters proudly wore the dresses and bathing suits she made, and the memories of her artistry live on in the pieces she created, including a coat still worn by her daughter, Debbie.
A devoted member of the United Intercessor’s Ministry, Evanna loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart and soul. Her faith guided her and shaped the legacy of love she leaves behind. She will be remembered as a true lady—kind, caring, and full of compassion for those around her.
Evanna is survived by her devoted daughters, Tina Fontenot Dupre, of Ville Platte, Deborah Fontenot Thibodeaux (Michael), of Baton Rouge, and Anna Fontenot Fontenot (Mike), along with eight cherished grandchildren, Dody Lynn Thibodeaux, Dustin Fontenot, Caleb Fontenot, Nicole Dowden, Jessica F. Guidry, Jered Fontenot, and Heather Fontenot Flynn; and great-grandchildren, including Victoria Horn, Michael Gobert, Trinity Jones, Beaux Martin, Kalea Thibodeaux, Kyndle Fontenot, Kolby Fontenot, Gabriel Nolan, Amos Flynn, Jeremiah Fontenot, and Evanna Fontenot; great-great-grandchildren, Harley Horn, Remington Horn, Jospeh Gobert, Enzo Jones, Matthew Gobert, and Ellie Jones. She also leaves behind her brother, Delvin Fontenot (Georgie), of Baton Rouge.
She rejoins her parents, Nelson A. Fontenot and Lelia Johnson Fontenot; along with siblings, Mack Fontenot, Roderick Fontenot, Edius Fontenot, Virgil Fontenot, Frenella Fontenot Saucier, and Dagment Fontenot Ankeny. She is also reunited in Heaven with her granddaughter, Sadie Jo Thibodeaux; and great-grandson, Beaux Martin; as well as the father of her children, Roland B. “Sky King” Fontenot.
Evanna’s legacy of love will continue to shine through her family and all who were fortunate to know her. She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.
Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte was entrusted with arrangements.
