Peabody – Helen J. (Kos) Dion, 94, of Salem, passed away peacefully at Advinia Care at Salem, on Thursday, March 6, 2025, following a long illness. She was the devoted wife of the late George Dion with whom she shared 65 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Binkowski) Kos. Helen began working, as a young woman, at the former CBS Hytron in Salem. In her early married years, she devoted her time to the care of her young family while working for GTE Sylvania in Danvers. During those years she and her family enjoyed their summers at their cottage near Sanford, Maine. Following their retirement, she and George moved to and were residents of LaFargeville, New York for nearly thirty years. With George’s passing, she returned to the North Shore and made her home in Peabody from 2019 to 2024.
She is survived by her son, Stephen G. Dion of Dexter, NY, her daughter- in-law, Leda M. Dion of Lynn, grand-children, Paula Fugate of Jacksonville, AR and Michael Dion of La Fargeville, NY and their respective families, and Nicole A. Dion of Wakefield. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her Son, Gary P. Dion.
