A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Concetta “Connie” Zimmitti passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025 at Apple Rehab in Cromwell, CT. Connie was born in Melilli, Sicily on September 30, 1926, and was the daughter of the late Giuseppe Formica and Filomena Ranno Formica. She was the widow of Natale Zimmitti who passed away in 1987. She immigrated to the United States in 1952, joining her extended family, who had already settled in the large Italian community in Middletown. After her husband passed away, Connie traveled between Connecticut, California, and Melilli, devoting her time to her children and enjoying her grandchildren as they progressed in life. She was a very social person and loved to cook and crochet for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Connie was predeceased by her first infant son, Salvatore, and her twin sister, Rose; also three brothers, Luciano Formica, Frank Formica, and Salvatore Formica, and her sisters Angelina Timbro and Josephine Formica. She is survived by her brother Rosario Formica and sisters Carmelina Calvo and Maria Pizzutto. Connie leaves behind her children Sal Zimmitti and his wife Patricia of Lincoln, CA, Joe Zimmitti and his wife Karen of Cromwell, CT, Marianna Zimmitti of Ashland, OR, and Linda Naccarato and her husband Salvatore of Melilli, Sicily; also her grandchildren Jeff Zimmitti, Tracey Ricker, Amy Zimmitti, Matthew Zimmitti, Isaac Zimmitti Schlueter, Sarah Zimmitti Sol and MariaChristina Naccarato; also nine great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Apple Rehab and Middlesex Health Hospice Program for their gentle and kind care of their mother. A Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, March 18th, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Sebastian Church, 155 Washington St, Middletown, followed by the burial in at St. Sebastian Cemetery in Middlefield. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday, March 17, from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the D’Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St., Middletown.
