HUMBLE, Daniel

Daniel Wayne Humble, 68, of Fremont died Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at his home in Fremont. He was born February 23, 1956, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Allen and BuiNita Gay Humble. At the age of ten, his dad was killed in a farming accident. His mother later married Rex Surber Jr., and Daniel and Rex enjoyed a good relationship sharing many of the same interests including going to the gun range. Dan attended school in Keosauqua and Ottumwa. On March 22, 1975, he was united in marriage to Jane Hall in Fairfield. Dan worked various places throughout his life including, Coca-Cola, Coors Brewing, Mid-American Energy, and the Milwaukee Railroad. He also enjoyed helping at Bob’s Place in Fremont, this being his favorite job because the majority of his payment was in fountain Diet Coke. He enjoyed volunteering and spending time at the Promise Center in Ottumwa. Dan enjoyed collecting Ham radios, guns, and shooting them at the range, and watching westerns. He was a member of the Isaac Walton League in Ottumwa. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a dog lover and enjoyed always having his faithful companion Chloe at his side.
His family includes his wife, Jane Humble of Fremont; two children and their spouses, Crystal and Paul Durbin of Fremont and Brandon and Melissa Humble of Ottumwa; six grandchildren, Ashley (Zach) Coyne, Tiffany (Stephen) Kisling, Trenton Sheets, Tylor (Kaydence) Durbin, Olivia Humble, and Korbin Durbin; three great grandchildren, Oliver Kisling, Eleanor Kisling, and Josephine Coyne; and his mother and step father, BuiNita and Rex Surber Jr. of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his father, and his grandparents, Willard and Lena Gay, Warda and Clyde Humble, and Viola and Kenneth Scherer.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 25, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont, with Daniel’s best friend Mike Weston officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Township Cemetery south of Fremont. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family will be at the funeral chapel Monday, November 25, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Promise Center in Ottumwa.
