Phyllis Ann Haas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the age of 90.
Born on Monday, August 20, 1934 in Memphis, IN, Phyllis lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family.
For 18 years Phyllis worked as a host at Sir Dano’s Pizza in Sellersburg, where she greeted every customer with warmth and a smile. She loved people and cherished the interactions she had with her customers. Her joyful spirit and welcoming nature made her a cherished member of the Sir Dano’s family.
As a dedicated member of the VFW and the American Legion, Phyllis was actively involved in her community. She was always on the go, lending a helping hand wherever needed. Her caring nature extended beyond her community involvement as she was a caregiver for many and loved babysitting her grandchildren and others. Known for her culinary skills, she was a great cook who brought people together with her delicious meals.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving parents, Roy and Sally Baxter, her devoted husband, Cecil Haas, her sons, Roy “Dunkie” Prather, and Rickie Haas and by her sisters, Peggy Blincoe and Joyce Deaton.
Survivors include her sons, Todd Haas (Lori) of Sellersburg, Troy Haas (Julie) of Jeffersonville, and Chuck Prather (Patty) of Memphis; her daughters, Candy Coomer (Joe) of Otisco, and Andrea Hall (Richard) of Sellersburg; and her grandchildren, Stacy, Brandy, Cal, Zach, Kimberly, Katie and Wes. Phyllis also leaves 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Garr Funeral Home, 7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
