CLAY CITY [mdash] William Lewis Shonk, 77, of Clay City, Indiana, passed away on November 22, 2024, while at Methodist Hospital.
Bill was born on July 14, 1947, in Clay County, Indiana, the son of Lewis and Verna (Bicard) Shonk. He graduated from Clay City High School with the class of 1965. Bill worked as a farmer until retiring in 2000.
He was a member of Faith Southern Baptist Church. Bill enjoyed being with his family and friends, spending time outdoors, gardening, mowing, and spending time on his deck.
Bill married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Sally Buell, on September 3, 1967. She preceded him in death in 1983. Together they had two children, Stacy Shonk and Jason Shonk. In his second marriage he adopted Paul, who preceded him in death in 2019.
Survivors include his daughter Stacy Shonk (Stephen); son Jason Shonk; stepchildren: Christy Schlegel (Kelly) and Erica Halstead (Jack); grandchildren: Hayden, Rae, Emma, Julia, Carson, and Aiden; daughter-in-law Ashley Shonk; sister Sandra Inman; and a nephew Todd Inman.
Celebration of life will be held at Faith Southern Baptist Church, 875 IN-246, Clay City, IN 47841, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM. Burial will be held at a later date at Sink Cemetery.
