He attended Blackhawk through his sophomore year and graduated from Wiley High School in 1948. He was a member of the Football Team while at Wiley and helped the team to become City Champs in 1947.
While at Wiley he met the love of his life, Ruth Lynette Allenbaugh. They lived in the same neighborhood and began dating while they were both attending School. They were married July 21, 1950 shortly after Ruth’s graduation from Wiley in 1949.

He was active in the Sycamore “A”s of Terre Haute formerly known as Wabash Model A Club since 1961 and still owner of the 1929 Sedan he purchased in 1961.
He was an avid gardener, supplying family and friends with fresh vegetables all summer. He had an incredible work ethic and could fix anything that needed fixed; if he didn’t have the part to fix it he would make it.
He was very devoted to his family and always wanted to make sure they were safe, healthy and happy. He and his brothers took very good care of their parents as they grew older and he was a devoted husband and father.
