David Wallace Bratcher went to be with the Lord on October 13, 2024 in Scottsdale, AZ.
Son of Carna Hazel Brewer and Earnest Vardaman Bratcher, he was born December 27, 1940 in D’Lo, Mississippi. After attending Hinds Community College, Dave graduated and worked as a barber. Constantly striving to improve himself, he took many extracurricular courses in radio and microwave tower communications. His determination and work ethic led him to establish Tower Maintenance Co. Inc. in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he spent over five decades serving communities worldwide through tower construction and maintenance, always extending a helping hand to those in need.
A life-long classic car enthusiast, Dave developed a passion for cars at a young age, spending countless hours tinkering with engines and attending shows and auctions all over the country. His retirement years in Scottsdale were filled with his beloved hobby of buying and restoring vintage automobiles. He was a fixture at car shows and swap meets, where he formed lasting friendships within the automotive community. His weekly gatherings with fellow enthusiasts for meals and conversation were a cherished part of his routine.
He was preceded to heaven by his mother, Carna; father, Ernest; brother, Howard Vardaman; sisters: Nellie Marie, Hedy Sue, Catherline Lealoa. He is survived by: his beloved, Elsa Putnam; daughter, Pamela Bratcher Warner and husband, Scott; nephews Nicholas Randolph Bratcher and wife Ashlee and Christopher David Bratcher; Six grandchildren: Chad Drake, Kristen Williams, Kyle Warner, Gunnar Bratcher, Booker Bratcher and Magnolia Bratcher; Six great grandchildren: Issac Drake, Alexandra Drake, Timothy Drake, Gideon Drake, Nevaeh Williams and Drake Williams, as well as many, many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
Dave was a deeply beloved soulmate, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, son, brother, and friend. His passing was sudden and unexpected, but quick, just like he always hoped it would be.
While we lost our cherished soulmate, dad, Bebo/grandpa, uncle – our warrior – many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He has been a rock to many, a master of sarcastic humor and witty timing to others, and even a glorious pain in the neck, to what I’m sure are a select few (because no matter what happened between you in your lives, once you were marked as important to him, he’d be by your side if you needed him, no matter what).
