Thomas Holmes Mitchell, Sr. was born to Norman Clarence Mitchell and Lois Claire (Holmes) Mitchell on March 7, 1945 in the old Woodward Hospital. He grew up in the Laverne/Ditch Valley area. He attended and graduated from Rosston schools. In his younger years, he had various jobs in the Ditch Valley area; family farm hand, mechanic, and welder. He was inducted into the United States Marine Corps in 1963 where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal and Rifle Sharpshooter. He was honorably discharged in 1967 as a Corporal.
Tom was united into marriage to Pat Glover on March 13, 1990 at the Woodward County Courthouse. They made their home in Woodward and have resided there since. He spent many years working in the oil and gas industry. Later, he retired from Vastar, formally known as ARCO. Tom enjoyed fishing and watching OSU Football. His favorite past time was spending time with his family and grandkids, who were his pride and joy. He enjoyed watching the grandkids play sports and other activities always cheering them on.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lois Brown, father Norman Mitchell, sister and brother in law Frieda and David Thompson, brother James Brown and one nephew John Paul Thompson.
Tom is survived by his wife, Pat Mitchell of the home; sons, Donny Mitchell and wife Kara, Thomas Mitchell, Jr and wife Bobbie, Steven Coleman and wife Justina, Eric Coleman and wife Sharly; daughters, Shelley Sessoms and wife Cilia, Stacey Prince; mother in law, Judy Townsend; brothers, Bob Brown and wife Brenda, John Brown and wife Sandy; brother in law, Larry Glover and wife Margaret; sister, Carol Garcia and husband Richard; grand children, Brenton Mitchell and wife Bonnie, Cory Mitchell, Serik Taylor, Gabe Sessoms and wife Katelyn, Isaiah Mitchell, J.D. Sessoms, Kynlee Mitchell, Afton Mitchell, Kade Citizen, Creede Coleman, Cannon Thomas Coleman, Jerrett Coleman, Talan Coleman, Slaydon Hamaker, Tyson King, Matty King, Garitt King; great grandchildren, Hazel Sessoms, Wylder Coleman and Maverick Reed; and many other relatives and friends.
