[font=font157032]BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine [mdash] [/font]Ronald J. Riml, 78, of Boothbay Harbor, Maine, and formerly of Kankakee, passed away peacefully Dec. 7, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, at the Togus VA Medical Center in Augusta, Maine.
Ron retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve after 23 years; and 20 years as a policeman in Kankakee.
He was an avid reader, who also ran a rare bookstore out of his home in East Boothbay, Maine.
His passion was model ship building and Ron spent many countless hours creating beautiful model ships. He loved music, art, the sea and Maine.
Surviving are his wife, Pamela; two daughters, Julie and Sarah; and Pam’s son, Kier; along with seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Itha and Joseph Riml; his sister, Joel; his grandson, Anthony; and stepson, Aaron.
Ron was a wonderful man, loving husband, amazing father and a dear friend to many. He will be missed by all who knew him.
There will be a graveside service at a date to be announced, to celebrate Ron’s life. The graveside service will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, Maine.
Ronald’s family would like to express their gratitude and love for the exceptional care he received at the Togus Springs Hospice Unit at Togus VA Medical Center in Augusta, Maine.
