Johnnette Neucere Foreman, affectionately known as “Maw Maw Johnnette,” passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 2:47 a.m. at Opelousas General Hospital, at the age of 82. A lifelong resident of St. Landry, she was born in Bunkie and named after her father, who was bravely serving in World War II at the time of her birth.
Visitation will be held at Melancon Funeral Home in Bunkie on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., and will resume on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Centerville Baptist Church from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Funeral services celebrating her life will follow at 10 a.m. at Centerville Baptist Church, officiated by Brother Jacob Guillory. She will be laid to rest at Vandenburg Cemetery in Bayou Chicot. Arrangements are under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.
Johnnette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life centered around her faith, her family, and her deep love for her church and community.
She served as assistant city clerk for the City of Eunice from 1972-1977; was vice president, secretary and treasurer of Manuel Tire in Bunkie from 1977-2003; secretary and treasurer of Louisiana Outdoor Properties from 2014-2024; and an active partner with her husband, Carl, in the land, forestry, and farming industry.
She is survived by the love of her life, Carl Foreman, married for 63 beautiful years. Together, they raised two sons, John Foreman and Jarred Foreman, both of St. Landry. John is married to Christina Foreman. Johnette is the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, Ainsley (David) Mayeaux, Jenny (Storm) Stalsby, Mackenzie (Devan) Lemoine, Riley (Walker) Harwell, Katie (Alex) Landreneau, and Connor Foreman. She cherished every moment spent with her 17 great-grandchildren, Amelia Mayeaux, Caden Mayeaux, Emma Seaman, Hadley Mayeaux, Sutton Jean Harwell, Dawson Lemoine, Tristan Seaman, Charlotte Lemoine, Tinley Seaman, Dallas Rials, Jude Lemoine, Paxton Chadrick, Rowen Landreneau, Tucker Stalsby, Brantley Stalsby, Hadleigh Stalsby, and Rhett Stalsby, each one holding a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her sister, Kristie Neucere Lemoine (Paul), of Lafayette; and her brothers, Ellis Neucere (Judy), of Church Point, Michael Neucere (Sandra), of Sunset, and Gary Neucere, of St. Landry.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Elsie Kennedy Neucere; and her in-laws, Hudy and Belle O’Banion Foreman.
Pallbearers honored to serve include David Mayeaux, Storm Stalsby, Alex Landreneau, Devan Lemoine, Connor Foreman, Tristan Seaman, Caden Mayeaux, and Walker Harwell. Honorary pallbearers are Gerald Gatheright, Lane Marcotte and Reggie Whittington.
Johnnette will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to God, the love she poured into her family, and the countless lives she touched through her kind heart and steadfast faith.
