Christine Schroeder, of Clinton Twp., MI, entered eternal life on July 28, 2025. Christine was born on April 11, 1948, in Detroit to Ted and Lillian Olszewski. She grew up with her parents and older brother Don, graduated from Cass Tech High School in Detroit, earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, and later began a career as a social worker, helping adults with developmental disabilities. While she wouldn’t have wanted to be defined by her work, her work exemplified some of her most deeply held values: fairness, inclusion, community, and connection to other people.Chris also loved her family. She married Steven Schroeder in 1979. They had two daughters, Tori and Kate, who like to joke that they inherited their mom’s stubbornness — perhaps more politely termed ‘determination’ — in plentiful amounts. We’ll always remember Christine as someone who both had an immense capacity for caring and who lived her life with her whole heart. Mom, we’ll miss you so much, but our lives are better because you were in them. Christine is preceded in passing by her parents, Ted and Lillian; as well as her husband, Steve. She is survived by her brother, Don; her daughters, Kate and Tori; and her son-in-law, Gene. A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, August 30, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Eastpointe. Donations in Christine’s name may be made to Easterseals MORC.
