Thomas F. Bythrow

Thomas F. Bythrow, 59, of Ellington, loving son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Tom was born on April 9, 1966, in Quincy, Massachusetts, one of five loving children of the late John S. and Jacqueline C. Bythrow. He was raised in South Weymouth, MA, and moved to Ellington, Connecticut with his family in 1975. Tom was a graduate of Ellington High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Connecticut. Tom had been employed as an Environmental Inspector for the State of Connecticut DEP and at Seals-It. In his spare time Tom enjoyed riding his Harley, working on crossword puzzles and Sudoku. He was an avid whittler; lover of animals and he was a huge Red Sox and Patriots fan. Without reserve, he helped family and friends with whatever was needed. The world is a poorer place without him in it. Tom is survived by his four siblings: Lynn Daley of Ellington, John Bythrow and his wife Susan of Bolton, Patrick Bythrow and his wife Debora of Bellevue, NE and Laura Peckham and her husband Rick of Little Compton, RI. Other survivors include his former sister-in-law Melody, numerous nieces, nephews, their families and many wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Owen Daley. A graveside service to honor Tom will be held in Ellington Center Cemetery, 95 Maple Street, Ellington, CT 06029, on Monday, August 11, 2025 at 12:00 pm. There are no calling hours.
