Albert “Al” Bianchi Jr., 94, of Lake Charles passed away at 6:46 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025 in his residence.
Mr. Bianchi was born on Oct. 20, 1930, in Worcester, Mass., and made Lake Charles his home after moving there in the early 1970s.
During his college years, Mr. Bianchi answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force. He proudly served during the Korean Conflict, where he trained in meteorology and navigation.
After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, Mr. Bianchi began a distinguished career as a meteorologist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). He retired in 1990 at the age of 60.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Mr. Bianchi was a man of many passions. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and found great joy in traveling to new places. However, his greatest joy came from time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Ramona Racca Bianchi; daughter, Christy Bianchi Davis (Norman); stepchildren, Tammy Walton and Russell Todd Stierlen (Lisa); grandchildren, Brianna Davis Pickens (Austin) and Rebekah Davis Fudge (Isaac); great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kayla Pickens, and Brock, Brady, and Isla Fudge, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his child, Ophelia Bianchi; parents, Bernice and Albert Bianchi Sr., and a sister, Sonya Hulswit.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. His son-in-law, Norman Davis, will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 12 p.m. and continue until the start of the service. An inurnment will take place at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Jennings at a later date.
