ATHOL/ FITCHBURG: Alice M. R. (Cote) St. John, 85, of Athol and a former longtime Fitchburg resident died Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Heywood Memorial Hospital, Gardner. Mrs. St. John was born in Fitchburg, March 8, 1939, one of eight children born to Armand and Loretta (Jacques) Cote and was a 1957 graduate of St. Bernard’s Central Catholic High School in Fitchburg. For over forty years Mrs. St. John worked as a legal secretary for the Law Firm of Gelinas & Ward in Fitchburg. She enjoyed knitting, visits to Rye Beach, NH and spending time with her friends and family. She had attended St. Joseph’s Church in Fitchburg. She leaves her brother, Raymond J. Cote Sr. and his wife Joyce of Lunenburg, her sister, Corinne Turchin of Athol; two grandchildren, Timothy St. John and his wife Amanda of Leominster, Matthew St. John and his wife Madison of Littleton, NH. She was also a proud great grandmother to five. In 2002 she was predeceased by her husband, Francis D. St. John and in 2020 by her son, Henry St. John of Fitchburg. She was the sister of the late Peggy Cote, Armand E Cote, Leo J. Cote, Annemarie T. DeCoteau and Eugene R. Cote.
Mrs. St. John’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Friday, January 17, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Church,49 Woodland Street, Fitchburg. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Mrs. St. John’s family will receive relatives and friends at calling hours 4-7 PM Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Isabelle & Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg. www.andersonfuneral.com.
