
DARLENE GLORIA ANDERSON-BLAKELY, age 90, of Rogue River, died December 25, 2024, at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.
Darlene was born January 4, 1934, in Portland, Oregon. Darlene started school in Wimer and graduated from Rogue River High School. A true “Wimerite,” Darlene worked as a school bus driver and librarian. She served as a member of the Josephine County Sheriff’s posse and women’s auxiliary, Rogue River Senior Club, Good Sam Club, Jackson County Historical Society, and Rogue River Senior Tours where she was hostess and drove bus. She volunteered with the Jackson County Library as well as the Rogue River Community Center. Darlene wrote a book for the Siskiyou County Historical Society.
Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, riding horses, traveling, camping and many other outdoor activities. Darlene loved animals.
Darlene was preceded in death by her first husband David W. Anderson – whom she shared a birthday, and her brother, David Lee Bentley.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell Blakely, whom she married January 9, 2024; sons Bruce Anderson and Paul Anderson; sisters Betty Mae Hageman and Sheila Gratreaks; grandchildren Jamie Laurie, Michael, David, and Brian; great-grandchildren Travis, Aubrey, Kolby, Kolten, Kaleb, Maybelline, Jordan, Keenan and Piper; Darrell’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on January 4, 2025 with private interment at Historical Woodville Cemetery.
