ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. – My name is BJ Hall. I love St. Mary’s County, and I’d be honored to represent District 29B in Annapolis.
For the past eight years, I’ve worked on behalf of the people of St. Mary’s County in various roles. Many of those responsibilities required me to collaborate with elected officials in Annapolis. At a reception last year hosted by the Southern Maryland Chambers of Commerce, I ran into a Delegate I’ve worked with for over five years. She smiled and asked, “How are things on the Eastern Shore?”
I replied, “I’m not sure, but I’ll give you a heads up the next time I’m headed that way.”
She had no idea where St. Mary’s County was. She probably still doesn’t.
And yet, she has more influence over the laws that govern our lives than our own County Commissioners. That should concern all of us. If key members of the Maryland General Assembly don’t even know where we are, how can they possibly represent our needs?
We deserve better.
St. Mary’s County needs a Delegate who is rooted in this community, who understands its culture, its challenges, and its promise. Someone who is unafraid, community-focused, and uncompromised.
I’m a Christian, a West Point graduate, a single father, and a dedicated advocate for this community. I’ve raised my family here. I’ve seen what’s possible in St. Mary’s, and I’ve seen what’s holding us back.
Now is the time for bold, principled leadership in Annapolis that puts people over politics. The rising cost of living, tax increases, irresponsible spending, failing roads, struggling schools, and growing concerns about public safety affect us all. These are not abstract policy debates. They are real challenges that impact our families every day.
Unfortunately, too often we see these very issues turned into political footballs. The media and politicians use them to divide us, to score points, and to distract from the real work that needs to be done. And far too many are caught up in typical party politics, putting loyalty to party above service to people.
But we cannot afford to be divided. Not now. Not here.
The only way forward is by coming together as neighbors, as families, and as a community to find better solutions that reflect who we are and what we care about. Our future depends on it.
This race is not about one person. It’s about all of us.
I’m ready to serve.

I’m asking for your voice.
I’m asking for your vote.
