Carolyn Bragdon

BANGOR – Carolyn (Mott) Bragdon, 86, died September 9, 2024, at Ross Manor with family by her side. Carrie was born on July 26, 1938, in Millinocket, the daughter of Jerome and Leona (Moore) Mott.
Before moving back to Maine in 1952 Carrie and her sister, Jalaine, spent formative years in Connecticut and on Peterborough Street in Boston, where their parents had a corner grocery store. Summers they spent with family in Millinocket. After graduating from high school Carrie completed the Husson College secretarial course. She worked for many years in the paper industry, starting in the human resources office at the Bucksport mill and moving to the woodlands division. After retirement, she worked for many more years in the HealthLink program at Maine Coast Memorial.
Carrie lived a full life, playing high school basketball, teaching round dancing, CPR, and Weight Watchers classes, and traveling widely in the U.S. and beyond. She enjoyed several Caribbean cruises with dear friends, Carol Jordan and Nicki Parent. She hiked Mt. Katahdin and also enjoyed skiing, hunting, canoeing, theater, and the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, and she loved monthly get-togethers with the Old Grads. Most of all she loved being with family. Her grandchildren remember going to the movies with nana and visiting her in the log cabin on Toddy Pond, especially on Christmas Eve. Carrie was a woman of great faith who found fellowship at the North Brewer/Eddington Methodist Church after she moved to Bangor in 2008. She served in several offices at the Church, including secretary, and volunteered her time generously at pie sales, holiday fairs, yard sales, and other events. She also volunteered at the Shoestring Thrift Shop and at Next Step Domestic Violence Project.
Carrie was predeceased by her loving parents; parents-in-law; son, Kevin Doyle; cherished sister, Jalaine Beale; brothers-in-law, Christian Deloof and Dick Beale; nephews, Scott Gifford and Gary Gifford; and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by son, Rick Doyle (Shannon); stepdaughters, Raquel Bragdon and Yvette Bragdon; sister, Deborah Deloof; brother, Dave Mott (Jan); niece, Kim Rioseco; nephews, Nick Mott and Shaun Mott (Amanda); grandchildren, Scott Doyle, Stevi-Ann Seamans (David), Robert Augustine (Kristin), and Robin Doyle; great-grandchildren, Lilly Augustine, Isabelle, Rosalyn, and Paige and Daxton Seamans; many other relatives in the Mott, Moore and Eaton families; and by many friends, including ex-husband, Les Bragdon, Bobbi Savasuk, and Marsha Causton and her children, Jeffrey and Victoria. The family is grateful for the care Carolyn received at Ross Manor, and thanks the staff at Engel Place for the compassionate professionalism they dedicate to residents in memory care. Thanks also to the hospice team at Northern Light for the comfort they provided to Carrie and her family.
