Irene TakYan Chien passed away peacefully on December 19, at age 108, in Meadville, Pennsylvania.
She was born in Canton, China, on October 18, 1916. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by three children and their spouses: Frances and Chung Poon Tsai, Jean and Anton Robert Brom, Alec and Brenda Chien; grandchildren and spouses Annabel Tsai, Catherine Tsai and Thomas Peipert, Brianna Chien, Mikayla and Joel Trousdale, Bethany and Mike Fields; and four great-grandchildren: Magnolia and Jet Trousdale, Jack and Emma Fields. Her 103-year-old brother Chen ShiZhi also survives.
The family is so grateful for the staff at Wesbury Retirement Community throughout her entire stay. Everyone has been so caring and attentive to details. Wesbury is a treasure for its community.
A memorial service is planned for the summer in Meadville.
