Larry was proud to have been born and raised on North Avenue in North Braddock and was a 1971 graduate of North Braddock Scott High School. Following his high school graduation, Larry began to work for Westinghouse Airbrake and then went on to earn an associate’s degree from CCAC. His education led him to embark on a long and successful career with Northwood Realty beginning in 1991 and would span until just a few years ago, when he retired from a managerial position within the company.
Larry’s zest for life was contagious. He was often described as the life of the party and he had an innate ability to uplift the spirits of those around him with his singing, dancing and charismatic nature. Larry always maintained a sense of pride for his Irish heritage by spending St. Patrick’s Day with his family at the parade in downtown Pittsburgh. A talented athlete, Larry enjoyed playing softball, and golf in his more recent years.
Larry found relaxation on the golf course where he could reunite with many of his life-long friends from North Braddock, who affectionately referred to him as “Ogre”. Some of his simple joys included spending the day by the pool, eating pizza and sipping a cold Iron City beer.
Above all, Larry’s heart belonged to his family. He was a loving and devoted presence at family functions, where his kindness and friendliness shined brightly. He was rewarded in recent years with the greatest gift of all, his four grandchildren, with whom he shared countless cherished moments.
Larry’s legacy is one of love, laughter and the ability to make every moment count. His absence will be deeply felt by his friends, colleagues and the community he so dearly loved. Yet, the memories he created will continue to bring smiles to the faces of those who knew him, forever ensuring that his spirit lives on.
