Piedmont – Darryl Scott Barton, 58, of Piedmont, SC, tragically passed away on August 4, 2024, as a result of a hit-and-run accident. Darryl was a beloved partner, father, son, and friend. Darryl’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Darryl grew up in Londonderry, NH. A graduate of Londonderry High School and Ithaca College, Darryl pursued his passion for television, and worked at CNN in media operations for 20 years. Darryl always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and most recently was an owner in a local favorite pizza restaurant group. Darryl was known for his sense of humor; his zeal for travel; his passion for antiquing and collecting antique glassware; his appreciation of Marvel movies and comic books; his delight in going to concerts, particularly alternative rock music; his affection for his cats and dogs (especially Cali, who will miss him the most); and his enjoyment in sharing his love of pop culture, foods, and cooking with Wendy, who was his favorite sous chef.
He is survived by his loving partner, Wendy Hulsey; his daughter, Jessica Barton (fiancé Tyler); his father Edward Barton; his sister, Cheryl (John) Roberts; his step children Jesse and Kaylee; his father-in-law, Winston; his sister-in-law Dawn (Dennis); his brother-in-law Paul (Laura); and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother, Frances.
Darryl’s family would like to thank the witnesses who assisted at the scene of the accident and who assisted law enforcement in their investigation.
Rest in peace, Darryl. Your spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew you.
