David T. Crowley, Jr.

Newburyport – David T. Crowley Jr., 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 30, 2024, with his beloved wife and daughter by his side. Born in Beverly, MA, to David and Amelia Crowley, Dave lived a life full of passion, dedication, and creativity.
Dave graduated from Beverly High School before earning his Bachelor’s degree in Education from Fitchburg State College and later a Master’s in Education from Salem State University. A dedicated educator, he spent 35 years teaching at Amesbury High School, where he also served as a department head before retiring in 1995. He was respected and admired by colleagues and students alike for his commitment to learning and mentorship.
Dave leaves behind his devoted wife of 65 years, Mary (Murphy) Crowley, and their six children: Maureen of Amesbury, Michael of Vietnam, Mark of Newburyport, Matt and his wife Kelly of Newburyport, Martin and his wife Samantha of Seattle, and Myles of Nagoya, Japan.
Dave also cherished his grandchildren, Kelsey, Patrick, Meaghan, Caroline, Jack, Keonii and Lilly, who brought him immense pride and joy. He was predeceased by his brother, Roland Crowley, of Beverly.
A man of many talents and interests, Dave had a lifelong passion for painting and photography. He often ventured out early to capture the serene beauty of nature, from snow-laden landscapes to summer sunrises, turning his photographs into stunning works of art. His home, adorned with his creations, was a testament to his artistic spirit. Dave also had a knack for woodworking and carpentry, spending countless hours on projects that enriched his home and family life.
In his younger years, Dave and Mary enjoyed watching their children participate in a wide variety of sports at all levels. Together, they shared a love of travel, exploring Europe, Asia, and Africa, with photo albums brimming with their adventures abroad. Yet, some of Dave’s most cherished moments were the simple pleasures—sitting in the backyard, by the pool with a drink in hand, music playing, enjoying the birds and the lush gardens lovingly tended by Mary.
Dave’s wisdom, and humor touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He maintained close friendships with his childhood friends from Beverly well into his later years, a testament to the enduring bonds he nurtured throughout his life.
Dave will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his love of family, his artistic legacy, and the countless lives he impacted.
Family and friends are invited to David’s Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Monday December 16, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
