DONALD RENE MARCANTEL

BELAIRE COVE – Memorial services for Donald Rene Marcantel, age 62, will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Visitation will take place at LaVille Funeral Home Chapel from 9 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
Donald, a beloved resident of Belaire Cove, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 2, 2025.
A man of many talents and an even greater spirit, Donald found joy in gardening, working on engines, and tinkering with anything mechanical. He loved the outdoors—especially camping and all types of hunting. A gifted cook, Donald enjoyed preparing meals for those he loved. Known for his wit, humor, and warm personality, he never met a stranger. His storytelling, comedic charm, and magnetic presence made him the life of any gathering.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Anne Marcantel, of Belaire Cove; son, Jase Marcantel, of Baton Rouge; daughter, Jhuan Marcantel, of Baton Rouge; brothers, Glenn Marcantel and wife, Cindy, of Arnaudville, and Sean Marcantel and wife, Bonnie, of Baton Rouge; sisters, Angie Soileau and husband, Barry, of Spring Prairie, and Amanda Meche and husband, Stephen, of Opelousas; and his cherished mother-in-law, Ruth Vidrine Fontenot, of Belaire Cove.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hershel and Dorothy Molitor Marcantel; and his father-in-law, Charles B. Fontenot.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Donald’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105–9959.
Donald’s laughter, love, and legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
