PROVIDENCE, RI / AYER: Dorothy Boisseau, 78, of Providence, formerly of Ayer, and Warwick, RI died unexpectedly at her home, Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Dorothy was born in Ayer, August 13, 1946, a daughter of the late Paul L. and Gertrude (Kidder) Boisseau and was a 1964 graduate of Ayer High School. She continued her education at Burdett Business College in Boston. Following a brief period where she taught in the Ayer Elementary School, Dorothy changed her career direction and for the next forty years worked as a legal secretary for several firms including Atty. Carl Black in Ayer and the Boston firms of Kline & Gordon, Hinkley & Allen and Peabody & Brown. Her most recent position before her 2011 retirement was with the State of Rhode Island Housing Authority. An accomplished trumpet player, Dorothy played with the Warwick Symphony Orchestra for over 25 years before associating with the Quincy Symphony Orchestra and the ‘Olde Kids on The Block’. She was an avid quilter, loved animals and was a daily communicant and lector at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Providence. Dorothy leaves her brother, Paul L. Boisseau of Shirley; her longtime companion, Leonard Epstein of Mansfield; her longtime friend of over 50 years, Eileen Thomas of Providence and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Chief Arthur J. Boisseau, Ayer PD and Barbara Boisseau of Groton who passed away last year.
Dorothy’s family will receive relatives and friends at calling hours from 4-7 PM Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at the Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Road, Rte 2A Ayer. www.andersonfuneral.com Dorothy’s funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at St. Anthony’s Church, 14 Phoenix Street, Shirley. Kindly meet at church on Wednesday morning. Interment will follow the Mass at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ayer.
