DUQUETTE, Gerald Jul 1, 1932 – Dec 3, 2024

PLATTSBURGH [mdash] Gerald Duquette, 92, of North Catherine Street, passed away on Dec. 3, 2024. He was born in Lacolle, Quebec, on July 1, 1932, (Canada Day), the son of Adrien and Flore (Guay) Duquette. He married Theresa Morin on May 15, 1954, in Napierville, Quebec, and they celebrated 70 years of marriage this past May. Gerald owned and operated Duquette’s Refrigeration in Mooers, N.Y., until he was forced to retire after a heart attack. Gerald lived 50 more determined years after that first heart attack. He was known to most everyone as Frenchy and would always greet company with a smile and a chuckle. Frenchy grew up working on the farm in Canada, then moved to Mooers where he worked for Monette’s before starting his own business. He could fix anything and after his retirement you could always find him tinkering in his shop. If he wasn’t in the shop, then he was probably at the local coffee shop with any number of friends working on solving life’s big (or small) problems.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Duquette; son, Francis (Sandy) Duquette; daughter, Helene (Jerry) Rosenbaum; sister, Theresa Supernant; grandchildren, Aaron (Tanya) Rosenbaum, Derek (Alison) Rosenbaum, Gena (Gaelan) Trombley, Jordan Duquette and Jared Duquette; and great-grandchildren Connor, Madeline, Krew, Oaklyn, Penn and Zeke.
A funeral service will be held at R.W. Walker Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Champlain.
