Elmer B. Latham

Elmer B. Latham, of Coventry, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 25, 2025. Son of the late Charles and Laura (Bintliff) Latham, Elmer was born in Burlington, New Jersey on December 16, 1943. As a child, Elmer lived on the Jersey shore, always fishing and clamming. He went to High /school at Southern Regional in Manahawkin, New Jersey.
Shortly after graduation, Elmer enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving for three years. After returning home, he left for Connecticut to work for United Technologies Corp., working for 30 years in the Engineering Merrel Lab. He met his wife Dale in 1968 and they were married in 1972. They spent 53 years together enjoying antiquing, traveling and being with their pets. Elmers greatest pastime was fishing, especially fly fishing and hunting. He was President of the Connecticut Fly Fishing Association for many years. He wrote articles for magazines, gave lectures and demonstrations on fishing for many organizations.
Elmer is survived by his wife Dale; his siblings, Sandra Miller, Charles Latham, Leatha Knoezer and her husband Wayne, Albert and his wife Gail; his brothers and sisters in law, Bruce Miller, Charles Dubiel and his wife Kendra, and Doreen Andrew; as well as many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, JoAnn Miller, and his brother-in-law, Ronald Miller.
Relatives and friends are invited to the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St. in Manchester for calling hours on Tuesday, August 5 from 9:00 to 11:30 am, followed by a Mass at Assumption Church, 27 Adams Street South in Manchester. A Christian burial will immediately follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Coventry. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Elmer’s memory to any Military organization or animal shelter.
