NORTH BEACH, Md. — Four people were rescued Saturday night after the pontoon boat they were on crashed into a rock jetty. One occupant was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The North Beach Volunteer Fire Department (NBVFD) reported that on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 9:31 p.m., a water rescue assignment was dispatched for a boat crash. Multiple units, including Fireboat 1, Squad 1, and paramedic units from Calvert and Talbot Counties, responded to the call.
Crews from Fireboat 1 located the pontoon-style vessel and made contact with its occupants. They confirmed that all four people on board were accounted for and worked to transfer them safely onto the fireboat.
According to the NBVFD, a single occupant was treated for their injuries and released on scene. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Police are investigating the incident.
In their post, the NBVFD reminded the public “to ensure all occupants on a vessel have life jackets along with the required safety equipment. This equipment may save yours or someone else’s life on the water someday”.
