HOHEPA “JOE” PUTARANUI APITI
Hohepa (Joe) Putaranui Apiti passed away at the age of 83 in Las Vegas, NV, on March 7th, 2024. He was born on Oct 18, 1940 in Morrinsville, New Zealand, to John Whatu Apiti and Te Hinganganui Pohutuhutu. Joe was a supportive member of the LDS church where he served two labor missions. In 1958, he served the church in the construction of the New Zealand Temple in Temple View, Hamilton. Later, in 1963, he assisted with the build of the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, Hawaii. He married in 1968 and eventually moved with his family to the United States. He settled in Boulder City, NV, where he continued his work as a wallpaper hanger and master painter. Joe dedicated his life to the church, family, and friends. Joe is survived by his 5 children, Troy, Corey, Carle, Paulette, and Monique. As well as his 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 siblings. A gathering for family and close friends will be held at a later date.
