LAFAYETTE – Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 1, at a 2 p.m. service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for James Joseph Jaubert II, age 84, who passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas.
Entombment will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.
Father Howard Blessing will be the celebrant of the Funeral Service and will officiate the services.
Survivors include his cherished wife, Constance Durio Jaubert; his daughters, Michelle Esquivel and husband David, and Nicole Hayes and husband Trey; his son, James J Jaubert III and wife Jamie; his sister, Helen Gayle Jaubert Bellamy (Jay); his brother, John Corbett Jaubert (Dorothy), 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was known to his grandchildren as Super Daddy Jim.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Oliver Battaile Jaubert and James Joseph Jaubert Sr.; younger brother, Fortune Joseph Jaubert IV and wife Senay; his infant great-grandson, Lalo Esquivel; and his in-laws, Juanita Muller Durio and Fred Durio.
Jim was a person of faith and dedicated to finding humor in life. As a young man, he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, where he devoted countless hours to charitable works supporting his local Napoleonville community.
Jim began his higher education at Auburn University, where he became a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. Then he attended Louisiana State University, where he was a proud member of the Tiger Band Drum Corp. He graduated from Francis T. Nicholls State College.
Throughout his life, he remained an engaged and devoted member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, with enduring collegiate friendships.
Born in Meridian, MS, Jim pursued his passion and followed his family throughout Louisiana, Texas, and Tennessee. He owned retail clothing establishments in Eunice and Crowley; The Bargain Store and The Body Shop.
Additionally, he participated in the men’s Tennis Leagues in Beaumont, Texas, and Alexandria. He was fond of camping and traveling. Despite the devastating effects of dementia, he retained memories of music and his family, and it is important to highlight how profoundly his sense of humor persisted.
He will be remembered not only for his affiliations and service but for his steady presence and genuine care for family. His sense of humor and compassionate heart left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearer will be his son and grandsons: Mason and James Jaubert III, Ezra and Zane Esquivel, Dylan and Luke Domingue, Hayden Ruffner.
The family requests visitation be observed on Thursday July 31, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and continue Friday Aug. 1, from 11 a.m. until time of services.
