Janice C. “Jan” Hoover, 77, McConnellsburg, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024, with her family by her side at the Fulton County Medical Center.
Jan was born November 11, 1947, in Everett, the daughter of the late Carl and Audrey (Miller) Cutchall. She married the late David R. Hoover II (deceased February 18, 2016) on August 22, 1970.
She was a teacher with the Central Fulton School District for 32 years, teaching English and reading. She enjoyed spending her free time reading, knitting, playing cards with friends and family; and going to the casino to play the slot machines.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary K. (wife of Brent) Seville, McConnellsburg; her son, David R. (husband of Jennifer) Hoover III, McConnellsburg; two granddaughters: Leah Seville and Alexis Hoover; four siblings: Connie (widow of Donald) Spangler, Mechanicsburg; Craig (husband of Barbara) Cutchall, Harrisonville; Brown “Tink” (husband of Kathy) Cutchall, Hustontown; and Richard (husband of Debra) Cutchall, Chambersburg; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Barclay, Lititz, Pa., and Linda Munch, Waynesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David R. Hoover II; and a grandson, Cody Trail.
A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, January 2, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, McConnellsburg, at 4 p.m., with visitation from 2 p. m. to 4 p. m., at the church. Interment will be private at Union Cemetery in McConnellsburg.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fulton County Medical Center Foundation, 214 Peach Orchard Rd., McConnellsburg, PA 17233.
