My dear husband, our son, brother, and friend, Jon Ashworth, left his earthly wings behind for a heavenly pair on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Reaching the age of 23 years. His tragic passing was the result of an auto accident while responding to a medical emergency.
He was born, Jonathan Alex Ashworth, at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge, Kansas, on Aug. 3, 2001, but friends lovingly referred to him as Jon or Jace.
Those left to cherish his memory are his best friend and wife, Tabitha Ashworth; parents, Bryan and Cheryl Ashworth; brother “bro” and best friend, Landan Ashworth “WeeWee” and wife Megan, sister “sis” Ash Classen and husband Kelly; best friend and brother, Collin Kaufmann; a very special lil’ sis Mandy Harms; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Matthew and Michelle Underwood; paternal grandmother, Kathy Ashworth; maternal grandparents, Allen and Rowena Koehn; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Oak and Sharon Underwood, Bregje Underwood, Caelan Underwood; grandfather-in-law, Wayne and Denise Underwood, grandmother-in-law Peggy Underwood; nephew, Seth Underwood.
He enjoyed his warm reception into the Alvin Litwiller family. Two employers that were close to his heart were Ale, Kara, and girls; Mitch, Val, and children. He had many, many others that he welcomed into his life as family.
All who knew him are now missing a chunk of their heart that they will never get back.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, July 19, with the funeral service being held at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, July 20, at Southern Magnolia Mennonite Church in DeRidder. Interment followed at Southern Magnolia Mennonite Cemetery in DeRidder.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
