Kathleen “Kathy” Walker Breaux

On Sept. 20, Kathy Walker Breaux left this world with faith and hope to see the loving eyes of her Lord and her God.

Born in Lake Charles on Nov. 5, 1950, Kathy was the youngest child of Florine Belaire Walker and Homer P. “Honey” Walker Sr., joining her siblings, Paul and Carol, in a close-knit family filled with cherished memories.

A 1968 graduate of LaGrange High School, Kathy worked in banking and later lived in San Francisco before returning home. On Mar. 1, 1979, she married Mitchel Breaux. Though their marriage was brief, their friendship endured. Her career included positions at Acadiana Technical College, LA-99 Radio, and Stage Stores. She later devoted herself to caring for her beloved mother through her battle with dementia until her passing in 1997.

Kathy was deeply grateful for the kindness of Dr. Mir Akbar Khan, whose care for both her mother and herself was a true blessing. She also treasured the generosity of the St. Romain family, especially John St. Romain, whose help knew no bounds.

She is survived by her sister, Carol Walker Perry of Mineola, Texas; nephews Keith Lynn Perry, Jimmy Wayne Perry (Christy), Kevin Dale Perry (Tammy), and Daniel Perry, and many dear cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Paul, and other beloved family members.

Special thanks to Harbor Hospice, too many to name, but a few noted were Ginger RN, Danette RN, and Ms. Jasmine Mosely, MSW, for their compassionate care and countless acts of kindness through the years. Special thanks are also given to her devoted home caregivers, who quickly became like family, Wilda Goodley, Shatrell Lowdins, Shameka Robinson, and Vickie Jones, who prayerfully held her hand in her final moments. Your selfless service will forever be remembered as the charitable work of our loving Lord.

A funeral service will be held at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel.  Monsignor Daniel Torres will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. and continue until the start of the service with a rosary being recited at 1 p.m.
