United States Air Force veteran Kenneth Douglas Kuhn, 77, Houghton Lake, died Dec. 25, 2024, at his home, with his immediate family by his side.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 4, at 1 p.m., at Houghton Lake Wesleyan Church and will be officiated by the Rev. Bryan Thompson. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of the service. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel, handled the arrangements.
He was known to be living his best life after retiring from the State of Michigan, after more than 30 years working for both protective services and the Adrian Training School.
In his later years, he enjoyed shooting pool with friends, participated in black powder shooting leagues and socialized with friends at the local Eagles club. His passions included spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, watching Detroit Tigers’ baseball and traveling with his wife of 54 years, Pauline Kuhn.
Known for his quick-witted comebacks, he will be remembered by those who knew him as one heck of a good storyteller. His concern for the future of his country was unwavering because he simply wanted the best for his children and his grandchildren. In fact, his grandchildren were his whole world, and he would change any plans if it meant he could watch them compete in sports, share a deer blind or spend a day with any of them on the water.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Howard and Eleanor Kuhn; mother-in-law, Joan Chapman; and his favorite son-in-law, Jamie McKibbin.
Surviving are his wife, Pauline; children, Katina McKibbin and Kevin and Casey Kuhn; grandchildren, Walker McKibbin and Payton and Colin Kuhn; and siblings, Julie Warrender, Karen Fuller and Tom Kuhn.
Memorial contributions may be directed toward St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
