MONTOZZI, J. Sep 27, 1927 – Dec 15, 2024

J. Eugene Montozzi, 97, passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024, at Celebration Villa of Chippewa.
Born Sept. 27, 1927, in Chewton, he was the son of the late Guido and Anna Leopardo Montozzi.
He married Donna Jean Ferrucci Montozzi on Feb. 3, 1951. They were married for 65 years when she passed away June 26, 2016.
Eugene graduated from Wampum High School in 1945 and from the University of Pittsburgh in 1951.
A proud veteran, he retired as a major after 20 years of service in the Army, including his time in the Reserves.
Following his military career, he worked for U.S. Steel for 32 years, retiring as a general supervisor of engineering.
Roman Catholic by faith, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling and traveling.
Survivors include a daughter, Pattie (Bill) Houk of New Castle; two sons, Mark (Arlene) Montozzi of New Galilee and Dave (Lori) Montozzi of Hobart, Indiana; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Donna, he was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Montozzi; and two brothers, Edmund and Dr. Richard Montozzi.
Visiting hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main St., Wampum.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, at the Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church, with Father Joseph Freedy officiating. Military rites will be observed. Entombment will follow in the Holy Redeemer St. Peter’s Mausoleum.
