Ronald William Morris, 77, of Onward, passed away Monday, Oct. 28. 2024, at the Peabody Retirement Village in Manchester, Indiana.
Born Jan. 8, 1947, in Peru, Indiana, he was the son William Kesling Morris and Ellen Mays Morris. Ron shared his birthday with Elvis Presley, and loved his version of “Amazing Grace.”
Ron was a 1965 graduate of Lewis Cass High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Ron was a recipient of the Purple Heart, being honorably discharged from the First Infantry Division, First Squad, Fourth Calvary A Troop Third Platoon. He was a proud member of Amvets.
Ron was lifelong member of the Onward Christian Church.
For many years, he worked for the United States Postal Service in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Houston, Texas. After returning to Indiana, Ron worked at Square D in Peru before his retirement.
Ron loved riding motorcycles, sports cars and a good game of euchre. He was a very loving and supportive father who loved his family — especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by Adrian Morris, Kokomo, Sarah Elizabeth Morris-Head, Sugar Land, Texas; one sister, Cindy (Nathan) Dutch, Lucas, Kentucky; one brother-in-law, Steve Branch; grandchildren, Ava, Rylin, Kenleigh, Elizabeth, Victoria and Isabella; one niece, Erica; Matthew, Drake and Derick; and his former wife and the mother of his children, Ginger (Martinez) Morgan.
In addition to his parents; Ron was preceded in death by his son, Eric Anthony Morris; and siblings, Sue Branch and Mike Morris.
A memorial service celebrating Ron’s life is 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in the Onward Christian Church, with Pastor Rod Mason officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial, with full military honors, will follow in the Little Deer Cemetery in Onward.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Onward Christian Church, or your favorite charity in memory of Ron.
