David passed peacefully at Waterford Place Health Campus on Dec. 29 surrounded by family and staff who loved him.
Born to Thurston H. and Mary L. (Hackney) Newcom on Feb. 19, 1947, in Kokomo, Indiana, David is survived by his “little brother,” Terry L. Newcom (Paula), Marion; niece, Tylanna Jones (Jeremy), Gas City; nephew, Stephen Newcom, Kokomo; grandnieces, Madison Jones, Jacksonville, Florida, Nevaeh Newcom, Kokomo; and grandnephew, Karver Jones, Gas City.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
He was blessed to grow up in the Palmer School area with plenty of friends ready to play basketball, football or baseball at the school or ice hockey at Highland Park. David was a graduate of Kokomo High School and at one time owned a retail business in Indianapolis and a lawn mowing business in Kokomo. He enjoyed auto sports, particularly drag racing, and could always be found in front of the TV watching the latest events. David always had strong opinions and proudly voted for Donald J. Trump in three elections. He considered everyone he met to be a friend and was always willing to help them work on their vehicles. He always had a funny story or joke to share.
Thank you to the workers at the Waterford Place Health Campus for their care, companionship and love. It is obvious that his influence on them was as great as theirs on him. There will be no services per David’s request. Final arrangements by Neptune Society Cremation.
