Paul O’Neill, 96 years old, of Gasport and East Amherst, New York. Paul went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on December 30, 2024, after a short illness.
Devoted husband of 69 years to Kari “his queen”; beloved father to Mark O’Neill (Natalie) and Erik O’Neill (Gina), loving grandfather to Elizabeth and Olivia O’Neill, Cayla Sweeney, and Lena and Nicholas O’Neill. Paul loved his family fiercely.
Previously deceased were his twin-sister Francis Foote and his brother John O’Neill. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and good friends.
Paul was a 1946 graduate of Lockport High School and he attended Alfred University. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War, where he met his wife Kari in Norway. In his 40-plus year working life, Paul was an investment advisor with Advest Inc. where he had a positive impact on the lives of many clients.
He served on the Board of Directors of Erie and Niagara Insurance Association for 22 years. A lifelong Methodist and Christian, Paul was for many years an active member of the Hartland United Methodist Church, and in later years a member of the Clarence Global Methodist Church. Paul was also a licensed private pilot, co-manager of the Royalton Airport in later years, and built his own airplane at the age of 75. A dedicated 33rd Degree Mason, he was a longtime member of Gasport Lodge and once served as Grand Marshall and Grand Warden for NYS. Paul served as President of the Royalton-Hartland Central School Board, was an active member of the Gasport Volunteer Fire Company, and a chaplain for the American Legion.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Amigone Funeral Home at 5200 Sheridan Drive, Williamsville, where friends and relatives may visit on Friday, January 3 from 4-7pm. A Christian Burial service will be celebrated at the Clarence Global Methodist Church, 10205 Greiner Road, Clarence, on Saturday, January 4 at 11am, with brunch to follow.
