PATTERSON JANTZ, Verna

Verna Jean Patterson Jantz was born March 22, 1936 in Carnegie, Oklahoma to Vernon Emory and Ora May (Coats) Patterson. She completed her earthly journey on Saturday, November 16, 2024, in Duncan at the age of 88.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, November 20, between 5:30-7 p.m. at Whitt Funeral Home. Services are planned for Thursday, November 21, at 10 a.m. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tracy Jantz assisted by Pastor Billy Morgan. Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Jantz, Steve Jantz, Cody Kaiser, Davy Gregston, Tracy Jantz, and Brent Katzer. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandchildren: Emma Kaiser, Hunter Gregston, Piper Kaiser, Bo Gregston, and Braxton Kaiser. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.
Verna graduated from Carnegie High School in 1954. She married the love of her life, Bobby Ray Jantz, on June 11, 1955 in Anadarko. Their family was completed with the births of their children – Cindy, Keith and Steve. She worked for Caddo County judges, court clerk and district attorney offices. After they moved to Duncan, she worked briefly for the district attorney’s offices in Jefferson County and Stephens County. She also worked for the Department of Corrections as a Probation & Parole Officer. Verna retired in 1987. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and received her 50-year pin in 2013.
She loved traveling to Las Vegas, Branson, Washington D.C., New England, and California. Cruises were also a favorite. She loved OU and OSU basketball and softball, and the OKC Thunder. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday and she enjoyed cooking dinner at her home. She also loved to go clothes shopping. She loved her family dearly – children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She also loved attending the Biker Church.
Verna is survived by her children: Cindy Kaiser of Duncan, Keith Jantz of Los Angeles, and Steve Jantz and wife Kim of Bowling Green, Kentucky; grandchildren: Renea and husband Davy Gregston of Marlow, Cody and wife Kaylee Kaiser of Duncan, Elizabeth Jantz of South Carolina, and Kristen Jantz of Colorado; great grandchildren: Hunter and Bo Gregston, Emma, Piper, and Braxton Kaiser. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Patterson and wife Kharina; sister, Janice Mills and husband Lyle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bob; brother Kenneth Patterson; son-in-law Mike Kaiser; twin great granddaughters Harlow and Harper Kaiser; and stepmother Mary Jo Patterson.
