Phillip L. Fitzwater, 66, of Hardin passed away unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, at his home.

Phillip was born Nov. 6, 1958, in Richmond, the son of Clifford L. and Frances A. (Myers) Fitzwater.

He was united in marriage to Susan D. Prichard of Hardin on April 20, 2013. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Terri Prichard (Curtis Oden) of Omaha, Neb., and Kathryn Edwards; and a brother, Rodger L. Fitzwater of Norborne.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Phillip was raised in Hardin, where he attended school and graduated in 1976 from Hardin-Central High School.

He dedicated much of his career to Fuji Film in Kansas City, where he worked until his retirement. Alongside his professional life, Phillip pursued his passion for farming on the family farm, continuing this work even after his retirement.

Phillip was a skilled, accomplished producer of Berkshire hogs, a commitment that led him to serve as both secretary and president of the Missouri Berkshire Hog Association. He also was a past president of the Carroll County Pork Producers and contributed actively to the Carroll County Fair for many years.

In addition to his farming achievements, Phillip was a devoted member of the Hardin First Baptist Church and a proud supporter of the Missouri Tigers. Known for his generosity and community spirit, he was always willing to lend a hand to help his neighbors and support the surrounding areas.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the donor’s choice in memory of Phillip. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Hardin, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., followed by the services at 11. Inurnment will be at a later date in New Hope Cemetery north of Hardin.
