CHESAPEAKE BEACH, Md. — Amid its years-long construction project, Rod ‘N’ Reel Resort of Chesapeake Beach is getting ready to unveil a new, revamped Rod ‘N’ Reel Restaurant that embraces novelty, tradition and fun.
The new restaurant is part of the resort’s multi-phase construction project that included renovations to update common areas, restaurants and accommodations. A spokesperson for Rod ‘N’ Reel said guests can expect the restaurant to open this September and that they hope to announce an official date soon.
They’ll be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner featuring a blend of familiar favorites and creative new dishes. The plan is to present a modern take on coastal cuisine, with ingredients sourced from the community. Each plate is “thoughtfully crafted” to reflect the flavors of the season.
As for décor, guests will find a welcoming space with coastal touches, multiple TVs and a menu that includes draft beer, handcrafted cocktails, wine and more. The restaurant side offers indoor and outdoor patio seating that overlooks the Chesapeake Bay.
A standout feature is the custom-built, boat-shaped bar meant to celebrate the resort’s maritime roots. Just behind the boat-shaped bar, a large glass window opens to the outside so guests can enjoy some fresh air along with their drinks.
“Together, the bar and restaurant at Rod ‘N’ Reel will provide a seamless blend of nautical atmosphere, tradition and stunning scenery, creating an experience that’s been 75 years in the making,” the spokesperson said. “It’s the perfect spot to relax and take in the waterfront atmosphere.”
The new space will also be available for events and connect directly to the resort’s ballroom.
Rod ‘N’ Reel has been around since 1946 and outlines the remodel plans on its website. Despite a slow-moving process and the regular hiccups of any construction project, the plans were always intended to honor the area’s history and community.
“The space honors the past while offering something fresh and exciting for today,” the spokesperson said. “Whether you grew up here or are discovering it for the first time, we can’t wait for you to experience the newly renovated space.”
Anyone interested can keep an eye out for the official opening date in September.
