Steven Edward Schreckengost, age 85, of Neshannock Township, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully the morning of Jan. 2, 2025, at his residence.
Born Sept. 18, 1939, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Floyd and Rose (Yusko) Schreckengost.
On July 7, 1962, he married his beloved wife of 62 years, Judith Carole (Smith) Schreckengost. She resides at home with her loving family.
Steve was a 1957 graduate of Ken High, then went on to further his education at California Western University.
He faithfully served in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Japan.
Steve was a supervisor in the refractory industry employed by AP Green.
As an All-American football and basketball standout, Steve excelled in several sports. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid tennis player.
Steve was a man of Christian faith. He had a passion for teaching the word of God and leading others to Christ. He will always be remembered for leaving a legacy of faith and family.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Stephanie (Elverino) Fraschetti of New Castle, Pennsylvania, and Missy (Donald) Moorhead of Cape Coral, Florida; two sisters, Katherine Hrivnak of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, and Lillian Reith of Karns City, Pennsylvania; and his beloved grandchildren, Madeline Grace Moorhead, Christopher Steven Moorhead and Ellia Nicoleta Fraschetti. He was the beloved uncle to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Emily Clee; brother, John “Luke” Schreckengost; and his three brothers-in-law, Joe Hrivnak, Harry Clee and Fred Reith.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
