SMITH, Piccola

Piccola Ann Smith, born on January 21, 1951, in Nelson County, Kentucky, passed away on September 24, 2024. Known simply as Ann, she was a woman of strong faith, vibrant spirit, and warm heart. She resided most of her life in Corbin, Kentucky and was an active and beloved member of the Shiner Church of Christ.
Ann’s life was filled with joy, laughter, and the company of those she held dear. She was an ardent game player and relished the camaraderie and friendly competition that came with it. Her home was always filled with the sound of laughter and the warmth of companionship. To quote George Bernard Shaw, “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” Ann embodied this spirit, keeping her youthful spark alive through her love for games and company. She is survived by her sons, Russell (Jean) Gorham and Billy (Joyce) Gorham; her grandchildren, Kevin (Amber)Gorham, Brittany (Thomas) Birely, and Wesley Gorham; and her great-grandchildren, Selena Hinton, Riley Gorham, Rowan Gorham, Leo Griffith, and Koda Birely.
Ann was predeceased by her father, Earl “Peck” Fitzgerald, mother, Genny Mae Fitzgerald, brothers, Joe and Jim Fitzgerald, and sister, Rose Fitzgerald. Her legacy will continue to live through her many nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 4:00 pm at Croley Funeral Home, 103 South 2nd Street, Williamsburg, Kentucky. The funeral service will take place at the same venue on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at 4:30 pm at Corner Cemetery, Highway 39 Lincoln County, Kentucky.
