ETHEL JEAN (SKILLEN)
Ethel Jean Skillen Snead, 93, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, at the Concordia Oertel Care Center in Cabot, PA. Jean was born in Avella, PA, on September 16, 1931, the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Ethel Ginter Skillen. Jean graduated in 1949, from Washington High School and, in 1953, from Grove City College, where she met her future husband. She retired from Montour School District, where she was a business teacher. Jean married her husband, Paul in 1954, after he returned from Army service in Korea. Paul passed away in 2013, after almost 60 years of marriage. Jean’s daughter, Rebecca Jean, died at age 20 in 1981. Jean is survived by a son, Stephen Snead (wife Anne Granieri); and three granddaughters, and six great-grandchildren, Amanda Courtney (husband, Desta and children, Chay, Ellie, Emsley and Carley), Michelle Migliaccio (husband, Mark and children, Toby and Ezra), and Remy Snead. Jean and Paul were active members of the Union Presbyterian Church in Robinson Township for many years, before they moved to Concordia in Cabot. Jean loved baking and welcoming family for visits, rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and collecting Hummels and other art pieces. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Concordia Lutheran Ministries for their many years of support and care, and making Jean feel like part of their family. Relatives and friends received Monday, January 6, 2025, from 10 AM, until time of the funeral service at 12 PM, at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, 334 Forest Grove Road, Coraopolis (Kennedy Township), PA 15108.
