Stephen C. Leccese

CHELMSFORD ‘ Stephen C. Leccese, age 83, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston on Sunday, July 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy L. (Muzzioli) Leccese with whom he enjoyed 60 years of marriage until her passing in 2022.
He was born in Somerville on November 5, 1941, and was the son of the late Cosmo and Louise (Ferrante) Leccese.
Stephen graduated from Somerville High School in 1959 and enlisted in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1961. Upon his return, he continued his studies at Northeastern University in Business Administration.
Stephen spent 30+ years managing the Sears automotive centers in Lowell and Nashua, followed by 10 years with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as the fleet manager for the Massachusetts Highway Department of Transportation. He retired in 2011.
Stephen was a lifelong Boston sports fan, and had a special affinity for the Boston Red Sox (and Braves), often travelling to Spring Training in Fort Myers. He traveled with his wife, family, and friends to so many places, including Italy, Hawaii, Aruba, Bermuda, California and Florida. He spent many, many summers on Cape Cod, especially in Falmouth. He enjoyed working in his yard, and hosting backyard cookouts with family and friends. His pride and joy were his children, grandchildren, and especially his great-grandson.
Stephen is survived by his daughter Kim Mariotti and her husband Mark; his son Scott Leccese; his grandchildren Marissa Pedone and her husband Richard, Nicholas Mariotti and his wife Arlene, and Krista Morrison and her husband Philip; his great grandson Vincenzo Mariotti; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Stephen was preceded in death by his brother Gaetano Leccese; and his sisters Vincenzina Bedingfield, Candida Miceli, and Carolann Legere.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 4 pm to 7 pm at BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 11 am at St Mary Parish, 25 North Rd, CHELMSFORD. KINDLY MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment will be held privately.
In honor of his wife Nancy Leccese, who passed away in 2022, memorials may be made in in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
