Travis Wayne Schaubroeck, 54, born on May 29, 1970, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on November 30, 2024, at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Travis was a man of resilience and courage, facing numerous health challenges throughout his life with unwavering strength.

Travis graduated from Wills Point High School in 1988 and pursued further education at Trinity Valley Community College, studying Micro Computers and Computer Drafting. He later attended ATI Career Training Center, earning a certificate in Computer Assisted Design. His career included roles at Deen’s Dairy, Deen’s Vet Clinic, Wal-Mart, C&C Engineering, and Vistawall, where he worked until being placed on full disability in 2006.

Diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at age 10, Travis’s life was marked by remarkable medical triumphs, including a kidney transplant from his friend Heather Alexander at age 31 and a pancreas transplant in 2005. He overcame liver failure, a brain tumor, and other significant health obstacles, inspiring those around him with his tenacity and steadfast spirit.

Travis enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his sons Bryan and Zac; he loved woodworking, tinkering on projects, paying great attention to detail.

Travis is survived by his sons, Bryan Dale Schaubroeck (Michaela) and Zachary Tyler Schaubroeck (Madison); grandsons Maddox Dean and Parker Jose Schaubroeck; Mother Karen Ottinger; bonus-mom Lisa Schaubroeck; brother Troy Ottinger (Rachel); sisters Tiffany Ottinger Suits (Greg “Pecos”), Rebecca Schaubroeck Gregory (Matthew), Veronica Schaubroeck Brimage (Jared); Also to cherish the life of Travis are Nieces Savannah Suits Wilson (Jake), Isabelle Suits, Naomi Ottinger, Lillie Gregory, Casidee Brimage, and Kristen Johns (Josh), Nephews Malachi Ottinger, Michael Bryan Ottinger, Jason Duracher (Anna), Eric Gregory, and Lane Brimage; Aunts Judy Beesley and Diane Freestone; Uncles Bob Smith and Jimmy Ottinger; Great-Uncles Jerry and Leornard Smith; bonus grandmother Jeanmarie Pempek; organ donor and special friend Heather Alexander; Special Physician and Friend Dr. Mark Casanova as well as many cousins, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his fathers, Larry Michael Ottinger, Sr. and Fred Wayne Schaubroeck; brothers Larry Michael Ottinger, Jr. and Harold Bryan Ottinger; grandparents, Evelyn and Dale Smith, Harold and Garnet Schaubroeck, and Mike and Eula Ottinger; great-grandparents Hank and June Burmester; Nephews Gabriel Travis Ottinger and Eli Michael Ottinger, niece Selah Hope Ottinger.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by a funeral service on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 2 p.m. both will be held at Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point, officiated by Pastor Mike Williams. A graveside service will be held immediately following at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.

Travis’s legacy of courage and love will be cherished by all who knew him.
